Only twice did I interview someone who wasn’t alone. I found this lovely woman and her charming husband walking along a shopping district in downtown Austin, and I photographed her in a nearby parking deck. I appreciated how the husband’s presence didn’t stifle her vulnerability when answering my questions. Instead, it was clear how connected the two of them were in a way that was supportive and encouraging of the other’s independence.

Italians living in Austin for the past nine years, she was charming, at-ease, and glamorous as only Italians can be. What a gift it was to experience her warmth and uncomplicated vulnerability. Comfortable in her own skin, I adored her and her fearless answers.
