About Prentiss Douthit
 

My name is Prentiss Douthit. I'm a visual artist and occasional writer currently living in my hometown in north Alabama. Primarily focused on figure painting -- I love people and painting people. Their stories. Their light. And, if I’m lucky, capturing moments that remind us of our shared humanity. 
 

I moved back to my hometown of Decatur, Alabama in January of 2023. The impact this place had on me as a child and now as a returning adult has been significant. I’ve enjoyed expanding my subject matter beyond humans and exploring painting the landscape around me. 

After publishing two books (paintings paired with autobiographical stories), I’ve not been writing as much. That’s starting to change as I begin to gather pieces of content related to my return to my to see what I can make of my time here. Stay tuned.
